"In the 1970's I lived in an old house on the east side of Cleveland. I began a project photographing the neighborhoods of Cleveland, using large format cameras. The concept of 'candid photography' has it's place; my reason for using a large conspicuous camera was to engage people in the making of the photograph, for them to reveal something about themselves and their enviornment in front of my camera..."
